ABOUT SPIRA
Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m a career movement educator and my home base was Spira Pilates Studio from 2002 - 2023! I teamed up with 2 other instructors in 2018 to create Base Moves, which is my new base, haha! Find all my in person pilates classes & Gyrotonic training in Durham, NC at Base Moves studio.
I’m passionate about offering high quality Pilates, SmartSpine, Gyrotonic, & Gyrokinesis Method movement education.
On Spira Virtual, take a class from me any time, anywhere! I offer monthly subscriptions and single class rentals.
Spira was a local mainstay in downtown Carrboro, NC from 2002 - 2022. Through collaborations with local teaching talent, especially Tara House, Spira spent many years as a collaborative studio hosting local instructors as well as Gyrotonic training workshops. Spira served many teachers an an incubator for their small businesses.
GYROTONIC® METHOD
Gyrotonic movements help to create trust that your body already knows what to do to unlock the mysteries of chronic pain or aches.
Don’t wait until you are “fit” or “in shape” to begin your routine! Find increased flexibility, strength, and joint decompression through the wavelike and smooth motions of Gyrotonic exercise.
People who have movement experience in swimming, T’ai Chi, gymnastics, dance, or yoga will find common elements in a Gyrotonic session. Gyrotonic exercises can help people with limited mobility to reach new places of possibility and has shown great success working with professional dancers and athletes. In a class, we focus on breath, coordinating movements, learning sequences, and moving multiple areas of the body at once.
